It is with heavy hearts and deepest sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Michael James Pallant from cancer on Friday, 24 October 2025 at the North Shore Hospice, North Vancouver.
Michael was born on 20 April 1966 in Montréal, Québec. He was raised in St. Basile le Grand, St Bruno de Montarville in Québec, then moved to Port Credit, Ontario, Edmonton, Alberta and finally, North Vancouver, British Columbia. He enjoyed many years living with his parents, Roy and Teresa Pallant in Lynn Valley. He later moved to Brigit House with Ruth and Graham Oslund in Central Lonsdale and lived there throughout the remainder of his adult life.
He attended elementary and junior high schools across the country, eventually graduating from Windsor Secondary, North Vancouver. After graduation, Michael enjoyed spending his weekdays at Knockmaroon Day Program, Taurven Centre, and for many years, the Cascadia Society for Social Working.
Michael enjoyed trainspotting and spent many happy hours operating his HO scale train set with his dad, wearing their official train engineer hats. For many years, Michael was a faithful parishioner at St. Martin's Anglican Church, North Vancouver. He loved to swim, go bowling, take long walks, and participated in Special Olympics. He enjoyed singing and dancing, particularly to Beatles music.
Michael was a cancer survivor, and faced many challenges throughout his life, but he remained a loving man regardless. As a special needs individual, he had an innate musical talent in which he was able to sing over 300 melodies ranging from opera to hymns, folk and rock songs, and nursery rhymes. As well, he had an astonishing ability to navigate. His sense of direction and his understanding of where he was, and where he needed to go, was phenomenal.
Michael was predeceased by his devoted and loving parents, Roy and Teresa (Musk) Pallant, originally of Colchester, Essex, England. He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by sisters, Debra (Pallant) Owens, and Wendy (Pallant) Mah, brothers-in-law Duncan Owens and Andy Mah, niece Emily (Mah) with husband Matt Ziegler, and nephews Andrew Mah and Nathaniel Mah with partner Julie Platten.
The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the health care team, doctors, nurses, care aides, & kitchen staff at the North Shore Hospice for all their devoted care and many kindnesses to Michael and our family.
Michael is gone from sight but never from our hearts. . .
He was a beacon of unconditional love and light who touched many lives and was surrounded throughout his life by incredible friends.
