Eric, lovingly remembered father, grandfather, brother and good friend to all who knew him, passed away peacefully at Lynn Valley Care Centre on June 22 with his sons by his side. Eric was predeceased by his wife Elsa Nelson 2013 and his daughter Vicki Nelson 2007. Eric moved to Vancouver from Toronto as a young child. Eric had a long and tremendous career working in many departments at the Hotel Vancouver. Especially memorable were his years working on the Panorama Roof during its heyday. In 1985 after 40 years of service, Eric retired as the Director Catering. Eric lived a full and exceptional life from very humble beginnings, he loved the outdoors throughout his life and enjoyed skiing, sailing, hiking, fishing, the beaches of Maui along with international travel. Later in life he especially enjoyed tending to his beautiful garden at the family home in North Vancouver. Eric is survived by his sons Bill (Becky) Nelson, Gordon (Laura) Nelson and 3 Grand Children, Matthew, Paul (Amanda) and Danielle Nelson. The family would like to Thank Dr. Bayfield and the fabulous staff on Manor 4 at LVCC who helped Eric with his dementia, providing exceptional care and loving support over the past few years.
