It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Paul William Jackson, who was born in Calgary and lived his life all over Canada including Victoria, Toronto, and Vancouver. Although sudden, Paul passes away surrounded by family, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Paul is survived by his devoted wife Shaunna, three sons, Nicholas (Bella), William (Haley)and Eric (Alyssa), who meant the world to him. He is also lovingly remembered by his mother Anne Mirtle, brother Dave (Tanys) and sister Karen, nieces and nephews Sarah, Caitlyn, Ashtyn, Chaise, and stepdaughters Sarah and Rebecca (Brett) and Grandson Jack.
Paul was born and raised in Calgary, moving to Victoria for senior high school where he could excel in his passion for the game of Golf. A gifted player, having played in the World Junior Championships in San Diego, Paul would go on to become a CPGA Professional at Shaganappi Point Golf Club in Calgary, teaching many students over the years.
He took these teaching skills and used them to teach his three boys the game of Golf at a very young age. The Golf course was where many of their fondest memories are from, and it is a place they will always remember their dad. He also loved to teach the boys all sorts of other sports that included soccer, basketball, and swimming which led to many afternoons at the local YMCA.
If he wasn’t on a Golf course, Paul found peace in the sun near the ocean. He found happiness in the water, often spending time surfing, snorkeling, or swimming in the warm tropical waters. He had an adventurous spirit that touched everyone who knew him.
Paul also appreciated and inherited his fathers love of music. As a youngster, he began playing percussion, then migrated over to the DJing scene of the local Calgary bars, loving to connect with people through the sound of music. He would spend his time listening to all sorts of music, from classical, to rock, to pop, to R&B.
Paul will be forever remembered as a kind soul, and a loving father. While saying goodbye is incredibly hard, we find comfort in the lessons he taught, memories we made, and love that was given by Paul; these are the gifts that will last well beyond his lifetime.
