Born in Sabah, Malaysia, he received his vocational training in Radio and Television Arts at the Ryerson Institute in Toronto, Ontario. He was a dedicated employee of Radio and Television Malaysia, Sabah, where he worked for 17 years before immigrating to Canada. In 1974 he joined the University of British Columbia working in various capacities in the departments of Parking and Security for 27 years before retiring in 2001.
He will be fondly remembered for his legacy of decency, honesty and integrity with fierce loyalty to friends and family.
He is survived by his wife Esther, son James (Sandy), granddaughter Lauren, and his brothers and sisters Martin, Francesca, Joe, John, Theresa, Stephen and Lucy.
He is predeceased by his siblings Rose, Mary, Peter and William.
