Poh Choo was born in Singapore on March 30, 1928. She enjoyed traveling and worked for Singapore Airlines for many years and retired in 1978. Her real passion was art and loved working with her hands and being creative. She started with beautiful floral arrangements after studying Ikebana at the Sogetsu School in Japan. Whilst in Japan, she developed an interest in hand made pots. She then spent a summer learning pottery at Stalham Studio in Norfolk. In 1979 she returned to Japan and took lessons in ceramics from Nagumo Ryu.
In 1981, Poh Choo moved to Vancouver to be with her brothers and sisters. She continued to study pottery and drawing and design at Capilano College and was thrilled to be able to set up her own studio at home.
She was a kind and loving big sister, aunt and grand aunt and a devout Buddhist who cared immensely for everyone. She is much loved and will be dearly missed by family and friends.
