Richard was born October 1, 1945 , in Winnipeg, Manitoba, moved to Saskatoon for his elementary school years before settling in North Vancouver. He was a leader who supported his colleagues and had a gift with words and honor, which led to many friendships in the industry across Canada and beyond. Richard also enjoyed life away from work, fishing and being on the ocean were sacred and he boated much of the West coast over the years. He was athletic, playing hockey, soccer, baseball, curling and golf-a trait he was proud to pass on to his sons and grandsons. He learned to hunt on the prairies with his father and grandfather and enjoyed annual bird hunting trips up to last year. He loved a good book and read every newspaper he could find, fueling his enthusiasm for debate on politics and current events. In retirement, he and Cathy traveled extensively and hosted friends and family at the beach house they designed on Vancouver Island. Richard lived life to the fullest it honours him to follow his example. A Celebration of Life was held on Friday May 18, 2018 at 11:00am at the View.
