Red will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 67 years, Audrey; children: Brenda (Greg) and Steve (Tonina); grandchildren: Zack (Haley), Luke (Kierra), Parker and Chanelle (Quinton); great-grandchild: Ella; and many extended family members and friends.
Red grew up in the Hastings Park area of Vancouver. At the age of 14, he started working at Hastings Racecourse as a hotwalker, eventually turning his love of horses into a life-long career as a racehorse trainer.
On August 28, 1955, Red married the love of his life, Audrey, in Seattle, Washington. Together, they travelled with the horses to racetracks all over the United States before settling their family in Richmond, then Vancouver and eventually retiring in Burnaby, British Columbia.
Red loved travelling, growing his tomatoes, sitting in the sun and family trips to Osoyoos. He was at his happiest, sitting at the end of the family table surrounded by his children and grandchildren, holding Audrey’s hand.
He will be dearly missed.
