Bob - you lived life out loud!
What an inspiration you were to many who crossed paths with you, reminding us to live each day to our best, fill our lives with love & laughter, to enjoy our friends & family keeping them close at heart 
That twinkle of mischievousness always in your eyes and that wonderful smile & laugh - I always looked forward to seeing you
I can hear you say:"Time for a Rye &  Club Soda, it must be four o'clock!" 
So Bob, a man who remained young at heart & full of life to the end I say cheers

I was extremely fortunate to have met Bob in 1980 when we both worked in product support for Sperry Corporation. Bob and Gwen invited me to stay with them on several occasions when I was in Vancouver and we became lifelong friends, sharing our love of aviation and skiing. Bob's love of life and family has always been a source of great inspiration to me. Just one of the fond memories that I hold close to my heart is the week that we spent on the Nola Dene in Desolation Sound enjoying his culinary skills and laughter. In later years Bob and Raye spent time with us in our home in Prescott, Arizona. We had some wonderful times and became "legends in our own minds", especially after a few cocktails! Bob was a 'one in a million' human being and our lives have been enriched through his being. He will be greatly missed.

Trips on the boat: evening and a remarkable weekend at Gambier. Plus Bob, you made two trips Kootenay Lake to visit when 90. The Raysons will miss you. Rest well.

Bob skiing in his 80's has always been an inspiration to me. He certainly knew how to live life to the fullest. We'll treasure our memories of ski holidays with him and will miss him a lot.

We'll miss seeing Bob & the Nola-Dene II pull into the bay, tie up to the dock and entertain us with his stories. May your seas all be calm.

I met Bob when I first joined the Hollyburn Gyro Club in 1970.  We have shared great times during these 43 years and I must admit he sure knew how to tell a good joke.  He will be missed.  Alban Leduc

It's still remarkable to me that I knew Bob longer than any other person in my life. He was a pal of my parents while they were dating and remained an important touchstone in my life after both were long gone. He was unceasingly generous  with his time after I moved my family to the west coast in 1985.
Each summer was marked by a voyage on one of the two Nola-Denes..first, of course with Gwen and later with Raye.
We had a ball!
Angie and I relished the time to learn from him, laugh with him, cook with him, drink with him and share more than the occasional tear as well. More than just about anyone else I have ever known, Bob McCollum embraced life. We loved him. Still do. We were so lucky he was in our lives.

I only took care of your Dad one day.  He was a very special man.  I am so sorry for your loss.  I am a close friend of Gail's.  It was an honour to meet him.  He had so many stories.

To one of our most favorite boater friends...what a Love! We met Bob for the first time several years ago with Raye in Mink Is. where Chuck and I were having a horrendous time anchoring and not exactly "keeping the volume down". Bob got in his little dinghy after we seemed to be holding bottom---started rowing over to us. We thought he was going to give us a real lecture but instead rowed up under the bow and said "You look like you need a Scotch!!! Come on over!". We did and we did...and this is one of the most vivacious, interesting man we've ever had the pleasure to be friends with. We miss and love him so much!!! I hope he's up there with my Dad with a Scotch and toasting us  all down here!
