It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Bob Regehr on May 14, 2024 at his home in North Vancouver. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and uncle.
He is survived by his wife Susan, his two children, Tracey (Daniel) Dandar, and Gerry (Amanda); 4 wonderful grandchildren, Matthew, Ryan, Kyle, and Kate-Lynn; brothers Paul (Christine), Frank(Helen), and sister-in-law Patti Hackman (Sean, Juli). He was an amazing uncle to numerous nieces and nephews and a cherished, respected friend to many. Bob was pre-deceased by his parents Patricia and Frank Regehr, and his brother Michael.
Bob was born in Vancouver and grew up in Burnaby where he graduated from Burnaby North Secondary School. He subsequently attended BCIT where he obtained diplomas in both Food Sciences and Human Resources Management. He embraced a successful career as a human resources specialist in the manufacturing sector, first at Weiser Lock Inc. in Burnaby, then followed by many years at Tree Island Industries in Richmond. Whether negotiating contracts or supervising day-to-day activities he fulfilled this role in a kind, principled, and effective manner, always striving to establish positive working conditions. He was a man of impeccable character and integrity and was well respected. He retired in 2009.
Throughout his life Bob was an avid enjoyer of nature. He was an enthusiastic boater, fisherman, hunter, hiker, and skier. He loved his home and garden, family celebrations, and entertaining friends. Following retirement Bob and Sue spent every March in Maui and also enjoyed travelling abroad and across Canada. A highlight of these adventures was river-rafting down the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon and hiking up to the top with a group of close friends ----- not to be forgotten!
Bob had time for everyone and was generous to all. He was a person who cared. He thrived on being surrounded by his friends and family, living his life with kindness, generosity, and humour. He was loved and respected by all who knew him and will be missed deeply. His memory will be treasured and honoured.
As per Bob's request there will be no service. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider donating to Parkinson Canada or Lions Gate Hospital Foundation.
