1930 to 2017
Bob grew up on the North Shore and graduated from North Vancouver High School in 1948. He held down various jobs over the years, before settling in the maintenance department at CBC. He worked for CBC for over 20 years and retired in 1995. He was an avid BC Lions football fan and was a season ticket holder for over 50 years. He loved working with his hands and created many wonderful keepsakes for the family. He made friends easily and if you became a friend of Bob’s, you were a friend for life. He would always go out of his way to help his friends and they all appreciated it and loved him for it. Bob was predeceased by his wife, Carrol in 2003. He is survived by his children, Andy (Kathy), Tracey (Thomas) and Elizabeth and his five grandchildren, Lindsay, Jillian (Zoltan), Kayla, Kieran and Joshua. To his great joy, Jillian made him a great grandpa last year with the birth of Zack. Bob was thrilled to be a great grandpa. Bob always looked forward to having dinner with the whole “fam damly” especially if they brought a bucket of KFC and chocolate milk. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Burnaby where he will be laid to rest with Carrol. A celebration of his life will be held at Boal Chapel, First Memorial Funeral Services, 1505 Lillooet Road, North Vancouver, BC on Friday, July 21, 2017 at 2 pm. The family would like to thank all the wonderful staff at Lynn Valley Care Centre who cared for him in the last 4 years of his life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the LGH Foundation.
“Moments before our walk that afternoon, I realized the path ended too soon.
Not long enough to hold his hand, this amazing person, this loving man.
Not long enough to engage his eyes and remember them always brimming with pride.
Not long enough to stand by his side, as he was by mine after every rough tide.
Not long enough to laugh with him still, after every bad joke, after every tough hill.
Not long enough to walk with this man, who has taught me to be the person I am.
I’ll remember that walk I took with my father and always wish it could have been longer.”
Arrangements under the direction of First Memorial Funeral Services, North Vancouver, BC.
