Rosina Margolian (Clapper), age 94, passed away on Tuesday morning, June 4, 2019, with her loving family close by. She was a devoted mother who was intensely proud of her sons Frank Murray and Joel Murray, and her late daughter Lois Ann Maklin, who predeceased her in 2016. Rosina was born in London, England, in 1925 and came to Canada as a war bride. She spent some of her time living with her mother and working in New York City before moving to New Brunswick and eventually getting married and settling down. In 1971, she moved to the city she loved, Vancouver, with her two sons. She was an avid ballroom dancer and talented dressmaker. She was fiercely independent and proudly lived on her own right up until the end of December, 2018.
She was the last of a large family of eight siblings, most of whom lived in the United States. She is survived by her two sons, Frank Murray (Carol) and their children Sean and Troy, and Joel Murray (Mimi) and their children Tyler and Tia, as well as nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom Rosina held dear.
The family would like to express its gratitude to the caregivers at Arbutus Care Centre.
There will be a private immediate family memorial. In lieu of flowers, Frank and Joel are in the process of setting up a bursary for single mothers at Kwantlen Polytechnic University. Please contact Joel for more information if you would like to contribute.
