Sandra Berenice Dawson

September 30, 1940October 4, 2021

Born September 30, 1940, Sandra Dawson was fierce, funny, and very strong. For 30 years she fought breast cancer and won. At the same time, she also raised 3 children, had a successful teaching career at Collingwood School, travelled 5 continents, and treasured 3 grandchildren and countless friends.

On the evening of her 81st birthday, she enjoyed a glass of wine with family before telling them that she was ready to go: a few days later, she died the same way that she lived – full of conviction, surrounded by family.

Sandra was the beloved wife of Kenneth; proud mother of Russell, Carrie (Anthony), and Geoff (Sarah); devoted grandmother of Quinn, Connor, and Gus; sister of Sheila (Fred); daughter of Pearl Delbridge Ellen and David Ellen; and friend of many. She was our rock.

Hi Ken, Carrie and Geoff. So sorry to hear of Sandra's passing .I will remember with pleasure lots of laughter and fun times we spent to -gether both in New Zealand and with you on that memorable trip to Alaska and Denalli Park and back to Vancouver.
Sandra was a forthright and generous friend. I enjoyed playing Bridge with her and the Bridge group, and partying with Ken at home and being with us on the walking trips .
My love to you all , Vivienne

Dear Ken, Carrie and Geoff,

Our hearts go out to you and your families at this difficult time. Rob and sister Liz were U Hill school friends with Sandra. I met Sandra and Ken in 1962 while dating Rob. We shared many friends together over these years. We have fond memories of a Colonial tour in Mexico with Ken as our excellent guide….a tour into Horse Fly in the interior, as well a few visits to Scottsdale.

Sandra was blessed with a beautiful marriage, wonderful children and grandchildren and an enriching professional life. We were pleased to have shared great fun times over these past 60 plus years. Her spirit will live on.

Affectionately…. Rob and Lorraine Travers

Please know that we are saddened at the loss of Sandra. We will support Sheila through this difficult time of loss and distress.

Ken and family My thoughts are with you. Sandra was a special friend from my first day in 4th grade at U Hill Elementry. She and I shared so much in our growing up years.Later we kept up on the internet. She was so proud of her children. Sandra had a wonderful laugh I will never forget. I consider it a privilege to be called one of her friends.
