Thomas (Tom, Tommy) Hamilton died peacefully at Mt. St. Joseph's Hospital in Vancouver, BC, Canada on October 7, 2025 aged 84 years. He was born in Crosshouse, by Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland on October 28, 1940 and was predeceased by his loving parents; father, John Martin Hamilton and mother, Helen "Ella" Cherry Young (nee Templeton) Hamilton. Tom's father died young, shortly after the war and he was raised by his mother, who worked in various jobs to support the family. Tom learned about life early on as he attended multiple births with his mother in her role as midwife. He maintained a lifelong interest in the British monarchy and Royal Family and corresponded regularly with them. In 1964, Tom moved to Vancouver to start his career with the T. Eaton Company where he worked as company buyer, sales and merchandising, and retired in 1994 as Store Manager of the Lansdowne store in Richmond, BC. Following retirement Tom owned and operated a successful bed and breakfast, Brigadoon, in Richmond for several years. Tom returned to full-time work later in life working as Concierge for Laguna Parkside until he was 83. Tom lived for over 20 years in Vancouver's West End where he was a fashion fixture and vibrant heart of the community, connected to friends too numerous to count. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. Random acts of kindness or donations to the BC SPCA are appreciated in memory of Thomas.
