Thor was the second of three children of Arvid and Ester Anderson of Finland. He leaves behind his wife of 35 years, Bev; son Michael; stepchildren Cary (Penny), Lynne (Doug) and Wendy (Colin); grandchildren Cary Jr. (Kealy), Randy (Erin), Jacqui (Jordan), Tracy (Kevin), Scott (Lauren), Jesse (Amanda) and Paige; and ten great grandchildren.
Thor was a positive and gentle soul – his glass was always half full. Thor was an avid hockey fan and played goalie from an early age until he was the ripe age of 80. He was such a good player that they kept him on the team even when he was almost legally blind. He was still able to make the saves!
He was a skilled craftsman, and in his spare time, he built beautiful, rustic bird houses. He always enjoyed the time he spent with his family, especially Christmas and his weekly chats with Michael who lived in Taiwan at the time.
In his early years, Thor worked for the Hudson’s Bay Company in Fort St. James and was very fond of his experiences. He was always happy to share stories of his times up North. He eventually settled into an assistant management position with Safeway where he worked for 35 years.
In his retirement, Thor enjoyed camping and travelling. He and Bev regularly camped locally, and they drove their trailer across Canada. They also travelled to many locations around the world, including Europe, Scandinavia, Australia, Russia and China. They made many good memories and friends during their travels.
Thor will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
