Verla was predeceased by her loving twin sister, Velma and her brothers Delburn, Oran and Abe. Verla grew up in Vancouver’s Mount Pleasant neighbourhood and attended St. Patrick’s School where she made friendships in her early grades that she maintained throughout her life. Never moving out of the lower mainland Verla worked throughout her adult life, with most years spent working for the stock exchange. Fun loving, Verla enjoyed dancing, playing cards, visiting with family and friends. Those who have known Verla have been deeply touched by her care, humour, and love. With her husband, Harold, Verla sailed the BC coast to Alaska in a 23-foot sailboat, an accomplishment she was proud of given she’d never spent time on boats before the trip. Verla loved car trips and made many over the years, the highlight being a leisurely return trip across Canada. Verla maintained a deep faith that sustained her through many life challenges in her 95 years. Regardless of those challenges she always opened her arms to all her family and friends. Along with her son, Del and his family, Verla is loved deeply and will be missed by her nieces, nephews, step family, and remaining relatives in the U.S. and across Canada.
