FRANKLIN, York (Wan York), born in Litchtenburg, South Africa on January 12, 1934; passed away peacefully on May 8th, 2020 in Burnaby, B.C. Greatly missed by her son David, daughter-in-law Sae, her sisters Loy, Bay, Lok, her brother Tung and her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband Derek, and sisters Wan-Hing, Wan Gum, and Wan Laan.
York initially moved to the U.K. where she trained and worked as a nurse. In 1963, she emigrated to Vancouver, Canada, where she worked as an accountant, and spent many years playing tennis in the Stanley Park tennis courts.
York was a lifelong artist and spent many years both in Vancouver and Victoria B.C. involved in the local artist community. In her later years she found a new love of playing the piano.
York will be remembered by family and friends for her wonderful kind nature, her vibrant attitude, and for her continuous learning and teaching throughout her life. York lived life being true to herself, and enriching those who met her.

Respecting York’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
