It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beloved Husband, Uncle and friend, Bill Drobot.
Bill is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 63 years Ruth, his sister Margaret Thompson, cousins Joan Drobot & Lillian Melenchuck, and many nieces and nephews in Canada, United States, Ecuador and Japan. Predeceased by his parents Emanuel and Martha, his siblings John Drobot, Lena Harry, Mary Spooner, Anne Gunter, Helen Hope, Katharine Nygaard, and Dennis Drobot.
As a teenager Bill moved with his family from Young, SK. to Fort Langley, BC. He worked for Western Canada Steel for 10 years and then transferred to Hawaiian Western Steel in Honolulu, Hawaii where he stayed for 28 years. After retirement in 1988, Bill and Ruth returned to Vancouver to be closer to family. They enjoyed spending many winters in La Jolla, CA. One of the highlights of Bill’s athletic career was an invitation to play ice hockey in Sydney, Australia with the Old Timers Team from Honolulu. Bill was also very active in the Honolulu Lions Club. Golf was one of his passions, playing often with his buddies in and around Vancouver. Bill was a devoted and loving husband, a great friend and uncle. He touched many lives with his kindness and compassion and will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
At his request there will be no service.
