The club championship is up this weekend and I remember watching this race many times with Jan. I always appreciated his knowledge and comments about ski racing. I will remember those days forever.

Mary ,   we asked our children if they recalled Janek because their ski locker and ours  was near your's in the original clubhouse locker room .  They Did , all 6 of them !  Janek would come in after skiing probably Last Run at 4-4:30 pm and ask them if they had a good day skiing .  He was an ambassador for skiing  and children in the sport . I taught all of our's to ski and did not give them ski poles until about age 7 or 8 so that they kept their hands out in front of them as if they had ski poles  .  Patrice and I recall riding up the Minute Mile Chair behind Janek when Darren , Brian and Brett were coming down the OLD terrain of Wilsons' Wiggle with No Ski Poles , in the Fall Line , and Janek was craning his neck back in admiration to watch these kids tame  Wilson's Wiggle with No Falling and No Ski Poles .   Made me feel like an Instructor just like Janek .   Paul  Reinhart   

Dear Mary and Girls,

I was extremely shocked to learn the tragic news of Janek's passing.
We, the age-mates, were close friends since kindergarten and elementary school in the 1950s., our late Parents also knew each other.
I have met Janek for the last time in June 2016 at your Warsaw flat and was happy we got to know each other.
Janek was a beautiful person, wonderful man, I will greatly miss him, his smile, warmth and kindness!
Mary, I am sure you were blessed with chance  to spend life with such a special man.

We, as a family shared our thoughts and memories of Janek with one another before writing collectively  here. Our individual sentiments of Janek were so similar; a kind, respectful, generous and overall great person, who blessed those around him, including us, by sharing his passion, enthusiasm, and knowledge of many areas of life. 
We all have wonderful memories of our families spending time together at your cottage/Allenwood beach in the summer, and Georgian Peaks for skiing in the winter. We, Ola and Mateusz are avid skiers and boarders, who have visited many terrains as a result of our passions for this sport, which we attribute to Janek who got us started learning! I, Jurek, go way back with Janek, who I met when he was my son Matthew’s age now. 
This news has come as a total shock to our family, and saddens us profoundly. No words can describe how sorry we are for your loss. This life needs more, not less people like your husband, and father. He will be missed.

I had an opportunity to meet Janek at the kinder party in Warsaw in the late 50's. Since than we shared the passion for swimming, skiing and tennis. Great personality, great host and a friend. At Janek's and Mary's place, we were always offered special liquor of Polish origin, regardless the occasion. Janek, you will be missed.

I am deeply saddened by the news of Janek's passing. We were age-mates, we knew each other nearly from the birth. Our parents were connected by a beautiful, real friendship which was born nearly a hundred years ago at the Town Coeducational Gymnasium in Otwock and in the Otwock Sport Club. Already in the last years, when Janek and Mary came to Otwock, we visited together places related to the Rozinowicz family.

Our whole family is thinking of you all and all the wonderful times we've had with Jan. He was such a role model parent on the ski hill, at school, and at home. I always loved getting the chance to sit down at your kitchen table with you all and Jan and hear his thoughts, especially on 3.25% milk. I think Laura got her epic giggle from Jan and he always knew how to make us all laugh uncontrollably.  He was so kind to me, my sisters and my parents,

Our sincerest condolences from Ola Remme and family, Eden, Randy and Rebecca to Mary, Julia, Bastia and Laura.
Yanek and I became fast friends when he first came to Canada and  we shared accommodation and worked as Ski  Instructors in 1980  at Blue Mountain. Over the years we never failed to  ski with Mary and Janek once a season . We also had hard fought tennis matches.

One of the most important people for me was Janek. I have met Him for the first time in 1968 in Warsaw Academic Ski Club and since that time we were skiing together for instructor’s degree, enjoying life together, working together during summer vacations in Helsinki, sharing rent for a  room together. My  deepest, sincerest condolences.  

I love your whole family and have so many fond memories of Jan. From a very young age he was always my favourite ski parent to talk to--I always loved seeing on the hill,  diligently helping Laura prepare but ready to greet me with a big smile. I loved having him at our soccer games, always helping me and teaching me to be a better athlete. But my favourite Jan memories are of him coming to greet me at the door when I would (probably too often) show up unannounced at  Weybourne. He would always  have a big smile and take the time to catch up with me. I loved spending time with Laura on these days, and will always remember how hearing Jan say "what are you girls giggling about!!" from the other room would send us into further fits of laughter.  Jan was a warm-hearted and incredible person. He will be dearly missed.

We will be skiing in Alberta on Thursday and we will be sure to have a few runs for Jan and attempt to keep the standards high.

We were so shocked and very saddened  to hear of Jan’s passing.  He was a lovely  man and a wonderful role model for all the kids he coached.  He was a favourite coach of our son....so positive and quiet in his coaching style.  We loved hearing about his daughters;  what they were doing and their accomplishments.  Jan was a very proud Father. He was always interested in hearing about our son and daughter ....what and where they were studying and living   .......when they were not at the club for many years.  He was  a beautiful person and we will miss him  greatly.

With great sadness I just learned the tragic news of Jan. 

I will never forget the first time I met Jannick.

In Dec. 1988 my 7 year old daughter Aimee and I tagged along on a ski trip to Tremblant with my brother-in-law Colin and his young daughter Gigi. That first morning I met Jan, who was there with Mary and their adored three young girls. Jan was going to coach the girls. Despite the fact that Aimee was an interloper, and shy and intimidated by this strange man who was such an expert skier, Jannick was incredibly welcoming and encouraging to her. He proceeded for four days to coach his pack of little girls with rigour and discipline, but combined with patience and kindness. As a result Aimee tried to be the best she could and shine in his eyes. I have never forgotten his kindness to her. Through the years, each time I see him, he always greets me with a big smile, and asks about Aimee, now almost 30, and my family. It was always such a pleasure to talk with him. Laura, his youngest, went on to become one of Aimee’s oldest friends.

I know Jan led an amazing and successful life, but I also know that so many people, like me, will remember above all this wonderful man’s acts of kindness and warmth.  What better legacy could a man leave?

I vividly remember driving up to Julia's aunt's cottage with her dad and our cottage crew aboard. He was warm, welcoming and engaging and kept the conversation going throughout the drive up.  I will remember this incredibly active and interesting person through his wonderful daughter, my friend Julia ♡ My heart goes out to the Rozinowicz family.

Dear Mary Laura  Basia and Julia - we were saddened and surprised to hear of the passing of Jan.  Jan was an amazing warm supportive out going individual. We first met him the year we joined the club. It was at the Christmas time trials and our son Peter had no idea what to do. Jan skied over and rescued us. He was very supportive of our daughter Jennie when she skied with Basia. We loved our chats and chair lift rides  with him and will miss him. All our love to your family. I am so glad that we were able to spend a lovely evening together, hosted by the Wozniak’s, in Warsaw last July,  first night of our visit to Poland and  the last night of yours.
