It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Albert J. Pionke on October 24, 2024 at the age of 76. A beloved father, loyal brother, dependable friend, and skilled craftsman, he valued fixing damaged goods rather than replacing them.
Albert J. Pionke was born on February 19, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois, the second son of John and Anne Pionke. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin at Stout, he installed electric turbines and repaired combustion engines before moving to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to write technical specifications and administer contracts for the city’s public transit system. He retired to Cape Coral, Florida, where he rejoined the workforce, this time for the purchasing department of the city government, then retired a second time. He eventually relocated to Northport, AL to be closer to his son and daughter-in-law.
Albert J. Pionke is survived by his first wife, Christine Lewitzke, their son, Albert D. (Ruth) Pionke, his siblings, John (Joan) Pionke, Rich Pionke, Ed (Lynn) Pionke, Anne Pionke, Tom Pionke, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his second wife, Debra Pionke, and their son, Ryan Pionke.
A visitation for Albert will be held on Monday, November 11, 2024, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home, 3802 Watermelon Rd., Northport, AL.
