

Allen Booth, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2026, in the comforting presence of his wife and daughter by his side. Born on October 15, 1932, in Tuscaloosa, Allen lived a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to his family and community.
Allen was the cherished son of Vela Allen Booth and Etta Mae Parris. He was predeceased by his loving parents; siblings, Dorothy Ann Goodman, Vera Mae Shinholster, and James Travis Booth; and his great-grandson, Decker Haynes Hydrick. His legacy of love continues through his surviving sister, Faye Booth House.
For 66 beautiful years, Allen was the devoted husband of Wanda Nichols Booth. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love, filled with cherished moments and mutual support. Allen was a loving husband who delighted in spoiling Wanda every day.
Allen's pride and joy was his child, Tina Booth Hydrick, husband Danny Hydrick, along with his treasured grandchildren: Aaron and Sarah Hydrick, Andrew and McKenna Hydrick, and Justin and Blakeley Hydrick. He was a doting great-grandfather to eight great-grandchildren: McCall, Sawyer, Beckham, Rylee, Amelia, Addison, Charlestyn, and Channing. His devotion to his family was unwavering,
He was a savvy bargain hunter, often found at local estate sales, exchanging stories and seeking treasures. Known affectionately as "the Snack Man," Allen never arrived without something delicious to share. His generosity extended beyond snacks, as he kept his friends well-fed and his family well-loved.
A true Alabama football fan, Allen embraced game days with enthusiasm, working in the Alabama Book Store parking lot for many years and sharing in the excitement of the game with fellow fans.
Allen retired from B.F. Goodrich 32 years ago, but his impact on those around him continues. He leaves behind a legacy of generosity, humor, and loyalty that will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of Allen's life will be held on Friday, October 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Funeral Home. Visitation will be held before the service at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be held at Sulphur Springs Freewill Baptist Church following the services.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to Hospice of West Alabama or to one’s favorite charity.
