Arnold was preceded in death by five brothers, Edwin, Johnny, Finnel, Joe, and Jimmy; one sister, Eunice, and his daughter, Dana Mills.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Mills; daughters, Darla Mills and Suzanne Link (Brad); son, Steve Hoggle; brother, Mitt Mills; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and other family members.
Arnold grew up in Coker, AL. After serving four years in the Air Force during the Korean War Era, he went on to receive multiple degrees from the University of Alabama and then worked for many years as Director of the state vocational rehabilitation services.
In his retirement, he enjoyed baling hay, working in his garden, fishing and carpentry. After a hard day's work, he would enjoy naps on his backyard swing listening to the birds that he enjoyed feeding every day. Above all else, he cherished his family and his relationship with God.
A visitation for Arnold will be held at Sunset Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A Graveside Service will follow at Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery at 11:15 am. Lunch will be provided at Trinity Presbyterian Church following the service.
The scripture below is from Arnold's favorite book of the Bible.
Psalm 100
Shout for joy to the Lord all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness, come before him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever. His faithfulness continues through all generations.
