Arthur "Art" Nuckols

NORTHPORT | Arthur Andrew Nuckols, age 81, of Northport, died December 20, 2013, at Hospice of West Alabama. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday, December 23, 2013, at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Rev George Jackson officiating and Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Essie Redden; father, David Nuckols; and sister, Fay Bush.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Euline Nuckols; daughter, Rene Littrell (Kim) of Marietta, Ga.; son, Jim Cooper (Lisa); brother, Charles Nuckols of Covington, Ga.; grandchildren, Taylor Littrell and Jackson Littrell of Marietta, Ga.; and nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Art grew up in West End and attended Tuscaloosa High School. He served his country honorable in the U.S. Army. He was an active member of the Northport Lions Club for years. He started Art Nuckols Plumbing Co. as owner and operator with his wife Euline for over 35 years.

Art was loved by all that knew him with his kind, gentle, loving spirit. And to us who truly love him, his memory will never grow old. “He fought a good fight, he kept the faith, he won the race!”

Pallbearers will be Taylor Littrell, Jackson Littrell, Terry Sanford, Gary Sanford, Danny Sanford, Steve Owenby, John Wilson, and Tony Newman.

Honorary pallbearers are Tommy Brannan, Ball Burkhalter, Doug Plowman, Nathan Long, employees of Brookdale Place Northport and Hospice of West Alabama.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama.
