Beatrice Watson

TUSCALOOSA - Beatrice C. Watson, age 89, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., passed away December 27, 2018 at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, December 31, 2018, at Sunset Funeral Home with Bro. Lynn Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the funeral home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Robert Watson; parents, Dee and Nettie Calhoun; brother, James A. Calhoun; and sisters, Betty Pate and Mae DeBardelaben.

She is survived by her sisters, Dorothy Farmer and Shandry Dorroh.

Mrs. Watson worked for Gulf States Corporation for 48 years. She was a dedicated employee and strong business woman in an age where that was the norm. She began her career in the office secretarial pool and by the time of her retirement had worked her way up to Human Resource Manager for Narwood Division of Gulf States Paper. She was a long-time friend of the Warner family. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Walter Watson and they enjoyed many traveling adventures, square dances and good times together.

Pallbearers will be Lewis Leatherwood, Johnny Pate, Wilford Calhoun, John Hugh Calhoun, Wayne Rose, Joseph Rose, Dilburn DeBardelaben and David DeBardelaben.

Honorary pallbearers are members on Romulus United Methodist Church, caregivers at Pine Valley Retirement Community, caregivers at Seniors Prefer Home Care, Phillip Sasnet, Jon and Martha Warner, Melvin and Dot Deslattes, Sue Moss Flowers, Woodford and Barbara Lesley, Ruth Dillard, Rev. and Mrs. Steve Strickland, Jerry Redd, Dr. Jerry McKnight and Dr. Regina Harrell.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Romulus Methodist Church, Hospice of West Alabama or Callie's Place.
