Betty Marjorie Powell

NORTHPORT Marjorie Powell, age 87, of Northport, died Thursday, October 24, 2013, at DCH Hospital. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Williamson Cemetery in Northport with Dr. John Nixon officiating and Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to service time.

She was preceded in death by her husband, A. C. Powell; her father, Watson Taylor; her mother, Bessie Taylor; her sisters, Dot Wheat, Elizabeth McKleroy, and Mary Anna Taylor; and her brothers, Watson Taylor, Jr. and Buddy Taylor.

She is survived by her son, Ted Powell (Deborah) of Ralph; grandsons, Teddy Powell (Abbie) of Suwanee, Georgia, Chris Powell (Candice) of Tuscaloosa, and Zachary Powell of Tuscaloosa; precious great-grandchildren, Trey, Claire, Clay, Kathryn, Kennedy, and Camden; her sister, Pat Arnold of Greensboro; her brothers, Robert Taylor of Montgomery, and Jimmy Taylor of Tuscaloosa; and many nieces and nephews.

She was a member of Northport Baptist Church for many years. She retired from Regions Bank as a teller. She enjoyed her job and loved helping her customers.

Big Mama was a wonderful Christian. She loved her family, her church family and The Lord very much.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons.
