Billy Ray Ball

Billy was born in 1931 to the late, Dallie Lee and Susan Eliza Ball in Chickasaw County, MS. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles (Pat) Ball, and his sisters, Grace (Polly) Bryan, Mary Jane (Rip) Garraway, Jimmie Lee (Tut) Ball, and Edna Earl (Foot) Andrews.

Billy proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force retiring in 1967. After his service, he moved to Northport and then worked as a barber at the Veterans Administration in Tuscaloosa. Throughout his retirement years, Billy enjoyed vegetable gardening, raising cattle, and fishing with friends on his farm in Mississippi.

Billy is survived by his wife of 71 years, Martha Griffin Ball; sons, James Ball and Ronald Ball; daughters, Teresa Mills and Cheryl Farthing; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, October 16th, 2025 at 1:00pm at Fayette Memorial Gardens in Fayette, AL. Brother John Foles will officiate with Sunset Funeral Home directing.

Pallbearers are Chris Griffin, Heath Mills, Cade Mills, Donovan Mills, Jason Hardy, and Terry Chrismond. Honorary pallbearers are Dolf Bryan, Buster Bolton, Winton Patterson, Wayne Gilliam, David Beams, and employees of Tuscaloosa Farmers Co-Op.
