

Carl B. Wilson, age 85, of Northport, AL, passed away at Hospice of West Alabama on Saturday, June 7, 2025. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 13, 2025, at Sunset Funeral Home, 3802 Watermelon Rd, Northport, AL 35473. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. prior to the 11 a.m. funeral. Rev. John Jenkins will officiate with Sunset Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Wilson was born on November 13, 1939, in Birmingham, AL to the late Carl C. and Ethelyn B. Wilson. He graduated from Ensley High School. He served in the United States Air Force and later graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science at The University of Alabama. He retired from Gulf States Paper Corp after 28 years’ service as Manager of Computer Science and Systems Analysis Department. He also did consultant work for National Cement. He served as a Southern Baptist deacon for 53 years and taught Sunday School for 50 years; twenty of those years teaching at Northport Baptist Church. He loved the Lord with all his heart, mind, soul and strength. He showed the Love of Christ to everyone he met. He was an avid fisherman, gardener, and hunter for many years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his late wife Doris B. Wilson; his daughter Doris Carlene Wilson; his grandson Jeffrey Scott Wilson; and his brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Kathy Wilson.
He is survived by his wife Colleen Wilson of Northport, AL; daughters: Karen Jones (Michael) of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Sallie Shipman (Kenny) of Pensacola, FL; son: Carl B. Wilson, Jr. of Nashville, TN. Special granddaughter: Carla Fahnestock (John) of Tuscaloosa, AL. Granddaughters: Angela Bridges (Chad) and Sarah Jones, all of Northport, AL. Grandsons: Dustin Shipman of Woodstock, AL; Matthew Jones (Rhonda) of Coker, AL; and James Jones (Hannah) of Buhl, AL. Great-grandchildren: Carly and Lily Fahnestock of Tuscaloosa, AL; Shiloh Shipman of Woodstock, AL; Katlyne Bordelon (Duncan) of Gordo, AL; Alexis Jones (Matt Gann) of Northport, AL; Kaelyn Bridges (Zane Sturdivant) of Northport, AL; Brylan Bridges of Northport, AL; and Hunter Jones of Buhl, AL. He is also survived by great-great grandchildren Isabella Bordelon of Gordo, AL; and Trenton Sturdivant of Northport, AL.
Pallbearers will be Michael Jones, Matthew Jones, Kenny Shipman, Dustin Shipman, John Fahnestock, and Rodney Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers are members of Northport Baptist Church.
