

The family will receive friends on July 12, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home.
Mrs. Shuman will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday July 13th 2022, at Northwood Hills Baptist Church, with Rev. Rusty Selman officiating. Burial service will follow at Bethal Presbyterian Church Cemetery, with Sunset Funeral Home directing, weather permitting.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband William E.(Bill) Shuman, her father, George Barton, her mother Maurine Owen, her step-father Thomas Owen, and her brother Billy Barton.
Survivors include, 2 son's Kenneth E. Shuman (Ken) 61, of Tuscaloosa, Kevin D. Shuman 57, of Tuscaloosa. 4 grandchildren Joshua Shuman (Josh), Zachary Shuman (Zach), Meghan Dearen, and Forrest Shuman all of Tuscaloosa, 3 great grandchildren, Angel, Ethan, & Avin all of Tuscaloosa. And a sister Tommie L. Owen Austin 74 of Tallassee Florida.
Carolyn Shuman was a nurse assistant in pediatrics for many years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who was always there to give out wisdom when it was needed. She never met a stranger, she would talk to anyone who would talk to her. She was a member of Northwood Hills Baptist Church where she sang in the church choir for many years.
Pallbearers will be, Josh Shuman, Zach Shuman, Forest Shuman, Earl Allen, Patrick Dearen and Scott Ingram. Honorary pallbearers are the members of Northwood Hills Baptist Church, and all the nurses and staff of Kindred Home Healthcare/Kindred Hospice.
