

NORTHPORT | Charles "Butch" Terry, age 66, of Northport, died April 28, 2014, at home. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Sanford and Rev. Jerry Trotter officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be tonight, April 30, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his mother, Virgie Duncan; father, Charles Terry; brothers, Leon Terry and Glen Terry; and grandson, Trey Pritchett.Survivors include his daughters, Donna Shirley (Laney) and Teresa Pritchett (Mike); sisters, Sally Wright (David), Veda Ashberry (Gary), and Cynthia Batten (Jerry); brother, Paul Terry (Jessie); grandchildren, Christopher Curington (Lisa), Hannah Vaughn, Tyler Pritchett, and Amber Perno (Brian); great-granddaughters, Bailey Curington and Cloe Pritchett; and great-grandson, Wyatt Perno.Butch attended Kennie Hill Church in Gordo, Ala., and was the co-owner of AA Quick Tow. He loved to ride in his 1927 Roadster with his family. He loved playing pool, and had a love of Indy Racing, that he shared with his nephews. He was a well-known diesel mechanic, and taught many people how to work on them.Pallbearers will be James Jones, Billy Sherrill, David Sherrill, John Maddox, Rusty Patrick, and Robert Alexander.Honorary pallbearers are employees of AA Quick Towing, Hospice of West Alabama, Dr. Craig Buettner, members of Kennie Hill Church, Jim and Liz Bunn, Bobby Sanford, and Freddie Sherrill.
