

Charlotte Esther Claus, age 70, of Tuscaloosa, died May 17, 2016, at Heritage Health Care. Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 2016, at Sunset Funeral Home with Terrell Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Florence Calhoun along with the fathers of her children Donald Claus and Richard Ferguson
Survivors include her daughters, Holly Freeman (Mitch), Heidi Deese (Nick), Henny Claus and Tammy James; son, Donald August Claus; sisters, Fran Bengston and Shirley King, both of Florida; father, Shirley Ellis Phillips; grandchildren, Kevin Deese (Olivia), Eric Deese (Meagan), Mariah Pfeiler (Jonas) Lauren Bailey (Brennon), Nathaniel Freeman, Darrin Stephens, Emily Arrowood (Coy), Adam Sprinkle (Heather), Autumn Stephens, Holly Claus Murray and Amanda James; and great-grandchildren, Luca Pfeiler, Kenzlie Sprinkle and Baby Deese.
Charlotte was born January 29, 1946, in Mobile, Alabama. She devoted her life to her children and touched the lives of many others.
Charlotte dedicated over 30 years of her life to caring for special need clients whom she dearly loved. She was a very loving, giving and compassionate woman. She leaves behind many people that love her and will miss her daily.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Deese, Eric Deese, Nathaniel Freeman, Darrin Stephens, Adam Sprinkle and Jonas Pfeiler.
Honorary pallbearers are the staff at Heritage Healthcare, Dr. Gene Alldredge, Dr. Jon Sanford and Jeanine Garrett.
