

Daniel Earl Homan, age 79, of Auburn, died on April 10th, 2025 at Arbor Lake Nursing Home in Auburn, AL. He was laid to rest on April 16th, 2025 at Sunset Memorial Park in Tuscaloosa, AL with his nephew, Luke Hagler, DMD officiating the graveside service while surrounded by his closest friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Sylvia Burkhalter Homan; his twin brother, Don Homan; and his parents, Robert Ed Homan and Thelma Cook Homan.
Survivors include his daughters, Danna Homan and Melanie Homan Paris (Chad); son Matt Homan (Kelly); his sister, Barbara Sanders; three grandchildren, Graydon Hill Paris, Isabelle Lynne Homan and Charles Oliver “Charlie” Homan; and his special companion dog, Tilda.
Mr. Homan was born December 2, 1945, in Pickens County, Alabama. After graduating from the University of West Alabama, Dan raised his family in Demopolis, AL where he was a beloved member of the First United Methodist Church. After retiring in management from Georgia Pacific Corporation, Dan and Sylvia moved to Auburn to be closer to their three grandchildren and their home on Lake Martin. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves.
Pallbearers were Hill Paris, Chad Paris, Josh Hagler, Steve Sanders, Robert Vann and Alvin Hagler.
The family requests that memorials be made to Bigbee Humane Society in Demopolis or Big Oak Ranch.
