

RALPH | Don L. Lancaster, age 73, of Ralph, died June 17, 2014, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, June 19, 2014, at Shiloh Baptist Church with Bro. David Mills, Bro. Ed King and Bro. James Walden officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
He was preceded in death by his father, T. J. Lancaster and mother, Iva Lee "Dubbie" Powell Lancaster.
Survivors include his wife, Margene R. Lancaster; daughter, Melinda L. Sanders; and son, Brad Lancaster (Kelly M. Lancaster), all of Ralph; sister, Peggy Poole of Fosters; and grandchildren, Chasity Logan Sanders, Joshua Thomas Lancaster and Emma Grace Lancaster, all of Ralph.
Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle who always put his family first. His grandchildren were the light of his life.
He worked over 50 years in the construction business and retired after spending 39 of these years with McAbee Construction. He was known and respected as being a very hard working man. He enjoyed riding his Harleys, dirt track racing, and watching the Atlanta Braves and Auburn Tigers.
He and Margene recently celebrated 50 years of marriage on October 5th. He will be greatly missed.
Pallbearers will be Tim King, Ted Kelly, Stanley Burns, Walter Powell, Garry Gregg, Joe Mize, Dan Burns, Jack Brewer, and Jacob King.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Sunil Chandra, Dr. Joanna Bundrum, Dr. Newsom, Dr. Lopez, Lewis and Faye Manderson Cancer Center, employees and retirees of McAbee Construction, friends of the Foster, Ralph and Jena communities.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Shiloh Baptist Cemetery Fund, Lewis and Faye Manderson Cancer Center, and Hospice of West Alabama.
