

NORTHPORT – Doris G. Cook, age 87, of Northport, Ala., passed away February 20, 2018 at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, February 23, 2018, at Carroll's Creek Baptist Church with Don Springer and Alan Roggli officiating and Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday, February 22, 2018, at the funeral home and one hour prior to service at the church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Millie Goad; sister, Eleanor Cook; son, Daniel L. Cook; and grandson, Dallas Cook.
Survivors include husband of 64 years, Raymond "Bill" Cook; sons, Raymond W. Cook (Shelia Cook), William P. Cook, and Kelly J. Cook (Peggy Cook); sister, Brent Walker and Eleanor Cook; grandchildren, Destin, Dallas, Christy and Kelly Leighann Cook; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Doris was one of those rare people who glowed with an inner light. She never met a stranger and all who had contact with her loved this sweet lady. Her life was devoted to her Carroll's Creek Baptist Church family as well as her Highway 69 North community.
In her later years, Doris loved to give two dollar bills to children and the special people in her life.
Pallbearers will be Ray Glen, Wilford Calhouns, Ralph Cabiness, Dalton Bobo, James Elmore and Phillip Gurganus.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Carroll's Creek Baptist Church, 14247 Hwy 69N, Northport, AL 35475.
