Mrs. Lewis is survived by her husband, James Curtis Lewis of Nashville, Tenn.; daughters; Sharon Kay Yates of Nashville, Tenn. and Sandra "Sandy" Jeanette Bell of Gulf Shores; sister, Doris Knight of Winfield and brother, Verlon Woodard of Blountsville; grandchildren, Hannah Grace Bell, Christopher Lewis, Kristen Hollingsworth, Lauren Grimes and Meaghan Hill; and seven great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Lewis lived her life to the fullest. She loved her husband, children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren unconditionally. She was a light to everyone’s life and a strong believer in the Lord.
Mrs. Lewis graduated from Hubbertville High School in 1948 then, from Massey Business College. She worked at an insurance company in Birmingham, Ala., SouthTrust Bank in Tuscaloosa and as a kindergarten teacher for ten years at Little Peoples Nursery in Northport. She loved children and teaching Sunday school for many years at Northport Church of Christ, where she, her husband and children attended.
She and her husband moved to their home in Northport 53 years ago. She and James celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on October 14, 2017.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 7, 2018, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Sunset Funeral Home with burial to follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Bro. Kerry Richardson will officiate. Visitation will be held at Sunset Funeral Home from 12 p.m. until service time.
Pallbearers will be David Berry Hill, Keith Cochran, Sky Hill, Andrew Grimes, Christopher Lewis and Henry Hollingsworth. Sunset Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
