Merry Christmas, Pops- Kenny and I came to visit you today!  Hope you like your flowers and your deer.  We love and miss you very much!  This ol’ world just ain’t the same without you... every time I turn in your drive my  eyes tear up and my heartbreaks knowing you’re not waiting inside for me.  Kenny and I laughed and talked and cried for you today.  You were the best Pops a girl could have and I miss you more than you will ever know.  I LOVE YOU! Merry Christmas❤️

A year ago today we said our final goodbyes to our sweet Daddy. Our lives are forever changed. You taught us to be good people. How to plant and tend a garden. You taught us to be thankful for the sunshine and the rain, as it takes both to grow things. You taught us to respect our elders. To love, honor and respect all God's creatures as well as this beautiful place we call home...mother earth.
 
You insisted we learn to check the oil, water levels, tire pressure, change a tire, etc. Yes, all before you even taught us to drive, at like 11-12 yrs old 🙂 You taught us to shoot guns...and how to hit what we were aiming for....Ting!!! 😉🤣

I'm so very thankful for all the things you taught us. Most of all I'm thankful for your  unconditional love. You taught us forgiveness by example. You always said, love your Mama, be good to your Mama. 

You ask us, if you did good...Yes Daddy, you did great! You were always there for us.

It's been a hard day. It's also been a bittersweet day. Your great, great grandson, Deacon was born today. We will teach him all about his Pawpaw and his Papa Heath. We will teach him how to fish, too. 🙂

Heath is now in heaven with you. Please give him a big bear hug for me. Tell him Mama loves him with all my heart. I miss him so very much! I'm trying to be strong and find my way without you two. You were both my rock! Losing you so close together has left me feeling totally lost! This has most definitely been the most difficult year of my life! I continue to pray for peace.

Pop,  you left this world a year ago today. The heartache remains everyday.  It was so hard watching you take the final ride down the hill...I knew I’d never see you standing on the porch to greet me again... 
It hurts to think that you are not here anymore. Although I can’t help but smile with tears in my eyes to think of how we talked and laughed and prayed when we’d visit. I cherish each and every moment of our lives together.  The love you had for me,  really all of us is something I deeply miss as much as I  miss your presence in my  life..

This will be my first Father’s Day without you. I know this is going to be a hard day for all of us. We won’t be able to see you but I hope you can feel all the love we will be sending to heaven for you. I miss you more with each passing day. I thought the loneliness that I feel would get easier but I don’t think it will. I talk to you everyday but what I would give just to hear your voice tell me it’s going to be okay baby. Hey Pop,  I miss you... I came to visit you the other day!  I sat on the couch and felt you there with me.  I stayed a while and walked in the yard, your fig tree is loaded down now and your gardenias are about to bloom too!  It’s hard to go down and not see you standing on the porch waiting on me. Pops, I know you were glad to see Heath. I bet you two have fished everyday since last Tuesday.  Please send  some extra love down here for Robbie. She sure is heartbroken, and sad and  I sure do want to she her smile again!   I told her you were taking care of Heath for her until she made it to Heaven to be with y’all. I’m trying my hardest to love her through her pain and heartbreak.  I asked God to direct my words and show me how and what to do.   One day at a time is my plan and lots of prayers for guidance and direction. I miss and love you so much. What I wouldn’t give for one more day with you! It has been hard down here without you but i know you are rejoicing in heaven and you are no longer in pain and that gives me the peace and comfort in my heart that i need. Happy New Year Pop!  I cooked my collards and black eyed peas just like you taught me!   I missed you so much this Christmas and today on New Years I had a conversation with you just like always on New Years day!  I didn’t wash clothes and I ate all my peas and greens...I miss you and love you very very much from the top of your head to the tips  of your toes.  I know heaven must be beautiful and I know you’ll show me around when I get there❤️ Happy Heavenly New Year!  Love your baby girl❤️

Will miss my visits with him. And for you I am so sorry for your loss, but we know that Sham is rejoicing about this homecoming like never before.. We go  to the homecomings  at our churches here where the family members that had gone on to heaven, and we would decorate the graves with our best picked flowers,  and oh the fellowship we had to visit with one another and eating dinner on the ground telling stories about one another, good times that I always enjoyed and still do today. But can We truly  image how much more wonderful the fellowship with our loved ones and to see Jesus, and the table that is spread   in HEAVEN  for us all that enters in ??
it is now the time to make sure our passage is assured as Sham would speak about.   Love You All .

How do you say goodbye... been pondering this thought today... my father in law Sham, although he was never called that by most people... he was just PawPaw to most of us... he was a good man who loved the Lord... couldn’t read but could quote the Bible... he had a unique way of talking... I found myself driving down the road today say things trying to sound like him... didn’t even come close but it did make me feel better... shed a tear or two while I did it...conversations sitting under the big oak while he whittled... much wisdom there...even bartered a couple of times.... I came out on the short end of the stick on that... him insisting that I walk up the hill and look behind Kenny’s house to see if the deer are back there... many more memories I could share.... I have decided not to say goodbye, instead I’ll say see ya soon... save me a place PawPaw... we’ll meet up with my dad and we’ll nuver those streets of gold together!!

There are alot of memories that I could write a book. Pawpaw was the best father in law - Pawpaw I could ever ask for we had lots at the creek fishing sitting around talking and him asking me questions and worrying about all his kids and grandkids. He called Kenny and myself late one night we were out and he ask where we were and told us it was too late we needed to get home lol. He just worried all the time because he loved us all. He never met a stranger and loved to talk about God and tell scriptures. He was a man of God so I know he happy rejoicing in heaven. We will miss you here it wont be the same on this hill but full of great memories. Love you Pawpaw "Tricky" as he called me.

My Daddy was one of a kind!  He was a kind gentle man with a heart of gold and would help anyone.   He never met a stranger  and was always smiling and cheerful even in then last few weeks when he wasn’t feeling  well he was still laughing and smiling.   I am so thankful I have his personality.  We have always joked that we could talk to a tree and it would talk back to us.  I will always cherish my memories of  going   fishing, rabbit hunting (1 time because i didn’t like having to walk through the swamps lol) painting, cutting grass, milking goats, feeding chickens, walking to the creek,   me having to wake you up at the crack of dawn to take me to the bus stop.  You always said you went to school with me lol .  I will miss you so much but i know one day we will be together again and i have comfort in knowing you are no longer in pain and you are walking on those streets of gold.   You  and Joshua are going to have so much fun together doing all the things we loved to do.    I now have 2 angles watching over me!  I love you Daddy and i will see you again some sweet day and what rejoicing it will be!! ❤️❤️❤️

Me and Dad- It started with me and Daddy, when I was a little fellow, he took me hunting and fishing all the time.  I remember one time when we were hunting with the dogs, running some deer the dogs ran over the hill and jump a bunch of deer, the big buck made a circle and come right back around by me and daddy,(I always stood close to daddy in the woods anyway) I hollered out there he his daddy, shoot him, shoot him! Daddy whirled around and hit me in the head with the gun barrel. I wore a knot on my head for a month, when I came to, Daddy was sitting on top of me hollering you alright son, you alright.  After I came to good, I asked Daddy did you get the deer Daddy?  Daddy said I don't know son we’ll go look...sure enough he got him! I have a lot of memories of me and Daddy that I will cherish forever.  I love you so very much I’ll see you in Heaven. So, we can do it again! 

My Dad was a good man. He had a gentle way about him, he never hurt or harmed anybody. He had a smile on his face and cheer in his heart every day and he thanked God for each day God gave him.  He always made you feel so loved and special, if there were 100 people in a room with him you always thought you were the only one. He never met a stranger, he talked to everybody from the checkout clerk to the person in the car next to him, he knew all about them before he left.  He would say God loves you and I do too. He wanted everyone to be good to each other and love one another.  He’d say “you kids” need to love one another and be good to each other. He’d call me on the phone when I answered he’d say- hey sugar I just wanted to check on you, haven’t heard from you in a week, even though I’d called the night before to say goodnight. He’d say you coming down today?  I’ll miss those phone calls. He always asked about everyone and wanted to know all about what they were doing. I’ll miss our phone conversations. I know everyone loves their Dad, but God sure blessed me with a loving, kind, gentle one.  He didn’t tell me how to live; he lived and let me watch him do it.  I love you Daddy from the “top of your head to the tips of your toes.”  I will keep you safe in my heart, so you are with me in every way.  I love and miss you.  

Bradley and I visited Sham last year and he had whittled a walking cane.  He gave me the cane and I will always treasure it   He was a very special person who I always thought a lot of and will always remember.  R. I.P.  

I have so many memories of Uncle Sham from going to visit on Saturday's and having to always eat something even if we already had.  He would have to make the bologna sandwiches because there was only one way to make them.  One of my favorite memories was the summer I got to spend with him and Aunt Mottie and Nae Nae it was one of the best summers of my life.  Thank you so much for being there for us after daddy died.  You will be greatly missed by me and I love you so much!!  Give daddy a big hug for me.  I now have two of the best angels watching over me!!  I'll see you when I get there!!😭

Pawpaw was such a great man. Every time I seen him he would say” there’s ol big boy”    Ive known him about 10 yrs. thru my friends Kenny and Trisha Cunningham. Always smiling but sure to put you back in line when you stepped out lol. I’m gonna miss you pawpaw I know your sitting widddling me a walking stick in peace. Rest easy an see you on the other side. 

Such a crazy sweet man. Taught me the proper way or I should say his way lol to make sausage gravy.  You will be missed but I know you are rejoicing. RIP Paw Paw. Love, Mississippi. ❤️

I didn’t get to see Uncle Sham as much as I wanted. I would call him and we would talk and I just loved how Uncle Sham would make you feel so loved. He was a great man and loved all his family and friends. I have a picture of him and my daddy together sitting on a table in my living room and everyday I look at it and think how much I love both of them. We have a new guardian angel watching over us. I love you Uncle Sham and will be greatly missed. 

Paw Paw was so funny and he was always so sweet to me and Jennifer.  The last time I saw him he said “you don’t ever come and see me anymore”!  I said I’m here now!  He was a mess!  He also gave us a sweet beagle that we named Butterbean.  He would always ask how she was doing!  He will be missed and was loved by so many!  Rest In Peace Paw Paw!  

I always stopped at Uncle Sham's house on my way home and when I left.  I called him from all over the world and he would get so excited about where I was.  He would say "Mottie she's calling ALL THE WAY from Canada, Italy, Rhode Island, Illinois, etc." He would get such a kick out of that!  Boy oh boy if I didn't call him he would have everybody he knew contact me.  He would say "Baby you ain't called me in three or four months" and I would tell him, " I just called you last week Uncle Sham."  He loved me and I loved him.  I would give anything to call him now.   I will miss him everyday.  God called my sweet Uncle Sham home and I gained another angel to watch over me.  

Saturday trips to Uncle Sham's were always filled with fun, stories from his childhood, showing us the puppies, the best sandwiches (he made them like no other), cold watermelon and love! I'm so grateful to have known him and even more so my boys got to know him and love him as I did. I'm heartbroken that my daughter won't get to meet him but I know he'll be watching over us. He'll always hold a special place in our hearts.
