Gladys Merle (Upchurch) Kelly

Merle is survived by her children Jeff Kelly (Shelia), Willie Kelly (Eleanor), Margaret Kelly Connell (Dennis) and Pat Kelly Stanley (Bobby). She is survived by eight grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Merle was preceded in death by her husband Barney C. Kelly, Jr., her father Joseph Upchurch her mother Emily McCool Upchurch her brother Joe Upchurch her two sisters Mildred Hayes, Bernice Lankford and her great granddaughter Millie Drew Kelly.

Serving as pallbearers will be Dennis Connell, Curtis Connell, Allen Kelly, Andy Kelly, Kaleb Smith and Joshua Smith.

Merle worked as a registered nurse for over forty years. She retired from DCH Regional Medical Center as a 3-11 shift supervisor. When she was able, she enjoyed being outdoors gardening and fishing. She loved her family and friends but most of all she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She will be greatly missed but not for long for soon and very soon we will see her again.

There will be a graveside service for family and friends on Wednesday October 13, 2021 at 10 am at Sunset Memorial Park 3802 Watermelon Road Northport, Alabama 35473. Her son Rev. Jeff Kelly will be officiating the service.
