

NORTHPORT | Harold Kenneth "Ken" Hoots, age 54, died May 10, 2015, at Hospice of West Alabama. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 13, 2015, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home, A Dignity Memorial Provider.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Daisy B. Hoots; grandparents; and several aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette W. Hoots; sons, Tyler Oswalt (Caroline) and Josh Oswalt (Angel); sister, Betty Hoots Ernest; brothers-in-law, Greg Watkins (Valoree) and David Watkins; father, Edgar Hoots; and in-laws, Billy and Dot Watkins.
Harold Kenneth "Ken" Hoots was born on February 6, 1961, and raised in Jena, Ala. He recently resided in Northport. He was a 1980 graduate of TCHS. He met the love of his life in 1990, and they later married on October 4, 1996. He was employed for 28 years at Martin Supply, where he grew many friendships with his customers. Ken was a loving and wonderful husband, father, and friend. He was a humble man, with a heart of gold. To know him, was to love him. Ken was a hardworking man, who was known for his quick wit, charm, and his compassion for loved ones and animals. After being diagnosed in 2011, he lived by God's guidance until the end.
Honorary pallbearers are Wes Jones, Randy Rogers, Jeff Smith, Bo Ball, Dr. Louis Bart Nabors, Lori Sims, Thiru Pillay of UAB Kirkland Clinic, employees of Martin Supply and Nucor Steel.
