Helen Ashcract Lindsey

Helen A. Lindsey, age 96, of Northport, died Nov. 17, 2011, at Heritage Health Care Center. Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Don Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Solon Lindsey; parents, Ervin and Arie Ashcraft; and brothers, Roy and Lloyd Ashcraft.

Survivors include her daugh-ters, Sherron Meriwether of Paradise Valley, Ariz., Shirley Robertson (James) of Northport, and Diane Scheff of Simi Valley, Calif.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Helen was raised in Fayette and Fayette County, Alabama. She was a homemaker and devoted her life to her husband, children, and grandchildren, who were the love and joy of her life. She was the caregiver to her husband until his death in 2000. Helen was a resident of Heritage Health Care for almost seven years. Although she had not been affiliated with a church for a long time, she was a person of strong faith. She was a positive and loving influence in her family’s life and those of which she came in contact. Everyone loved “Mrs. Lindsey,” and she loved everyone.

Pallbearers will be Mike Flowers, Dean Robertson, J.R. Robertson, Kyle Lett, James Robertson, and Shane Taylor.

Honorary pallbearers are James Channell, nurses and staff of Heritage Health Care, and Southern Care Hospice of Northport, Ala.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Southern Care Hospice, 3835 Watermelon Rd., Northport, AL 35473.
