Ira Gordon Skelton

Ira Gordon Skelton, age 77, of Berry, died Dec. 22, 2011, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 12 noon today at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Myrtie Beard Skelton; father, Clarence Skelton; and brothers, Adrian Skelton and T.W. Skelton.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Braselton Skelton; daughter, Cynthia Coleman (Morrell) of Taylorville; sons, Ronnie (Alice) and Donald (Tara), all of Samantha; sister, Louise Lowe of Samantha; brothers, Lowell and Ormand, both of Northport, and Douglas and Travis, both of Ozark; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Mark Skelton, Randy Skelton, Jeff Gilliam, Shannon Shinholster, Lucas Skelton, Steve Skelton, and Robert Phillips.

Honorary pallbearers are Samantha Volunteer Fire Department, Northstar Paramedics, friends and neighbors of the Samantha community, and all the doctors and nurses who touched his life at DCH Regional Medical Center and Northport Medical Center-DCH.
