Jerry Wright Burroughs, age 85, born October 10, 2025, of Northport, Alabama, ascended into the Arms of His Savior, Jesus Christ, after battling pneumonia. Jerry can best be described as "a man after God's own heart." He loved God fiercely, his wife, Sandra, lovingly, his family protectively, and all others with a love of Christ. Jerry's beautiful smile and quick wit warmed everyone's heart around him.
Jerry was a successful businessman, owning five car businesses at one time. He retired from all of these in his late thirties and began his life of ministering the love of God to others.
God blessed Jerry with a powerful Anointing in music ministry. At the age of fifteen, he learned to play the piano after a blind evangelist showed him a few things on the piano, while staying at his family's home for two weeks. Jerry was immediately able to make those ivories sing for the Glory of God. Over the years, he played in churches, for revivals, Gospel groups, and various Christian assemblies. He sang over the radio with his father, Edgar Burroughs, mother, Irene Burroughs, and sister, Betty Burroughs, all of whom preceded him in ascending to their Heavenly Home.
Jerry then formed the Christianaires Quartet, not only traveling to minister in music, but also ministering on a local television station for around 13 years. Not only did his quartet minister for an hour each Sunday morning, but other quartets touring nearby would make their appearances as well.
Music was not the only ministry in his heart, but helping others in need, as well. Almost 30 years ago, he started the Christianaires Ministries to help to meet the needs of the precious people of Honduras. His love for these people knew no bounds. The Christianaires carried supplies down for Christmas parties for children, where they received a hot meal, apple, piñata, and the Word of God preached on their level. Jerry's team also built churches, an orphanage, houses, and beds (they often slept on the dirt floors). Although God called Jerry to a work in his hometown, the team continued the Christianaire's work in Honduras and expanded the outreach to include providing much needed medical supplies.
In October of 2010, Jerry and his wife, Sandra, started a new work in the form of On Eagles' Wings Church at 7115 McFarland Boulevard, Northport, AL. The purpose was to take back territory that the enemy had stolen, and minister to precious souls in need. They did just that and many souls were saved during the worship services, as well as, in the youth outreach, The Refuge. Jerry also came up with the idea to host the King's Table on Wednesday nights for those in need. Folks came for salvation and healing and after the short service, moved to the Fellowship Hall for a hot meal. After the meal, they received bags of groceries to take home. Jerry and Sandra opened the commercial kitchen for the Kingdom Kitchen outreach, where they partnered with Pastor Garcia and his wife, Raqui, of Pastor's Kitchen, along with other members of the community, to help those in need. Jerry and Sandra donated the church and property to Pastor and Raqui to carry on the Kingdom Kitchen.
Jerry's last ministry on this earth is the Jerry W. Burroughs Foundation to fund missionaries to Honduras. While the Foundation is still in the approval process, Jerry and Sandra went ahead and paid the way for one missionary to travel to Honduras this December. We are so grateful that Jerry will continue to be able to minister from Heaven many years from now. Jerry's life was truly "A living sacrifice for the service of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ."
