Jerry M. Prewitt Sr.

Jerry Mitchell Pruitt, Sr., 81, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2026, surrounded by his children at DCH Hospital in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Jerry was born December 21, 1944, to Mr. and Mrs. Henry J. and Florence O. Pruitt at DCH Hospital. He served his country in the United States Army, including Vietnam and South Korea.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Linda Humphrey.

He is survived by his sister, Marie McKee of Opelika, AL; his” favorite" son, Jerry Pruitt, Jr. (Diana) of Tuscaloosa, AL; his "favorite" daughter, Kim Kyzer (Russel) of Tuscaloosa, AL; his nephews, Michael McKee and Stephen Humphrey; his niece, Bobbie McKee; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Noland Hospital at DCH for the care and kindness shown to Jerry during his final days. They would also like to express their sincere appreciation to his primary care team and the social workers at the VA Medical Center in Tuscaloosa for their dedicated care, compassion, and support throughout his journey.
