He was preceded in death by his mother, Ana Lisa; father, Bennett Dickson; brothers, Bennett Dickson, Jr., Ed, Willie, Jack and Clyde; sisters, Ethel Stephens and Ann McPherson; and his wife of 43 years, Marijo Roberts.
He is survived by his three sons, Jesse T. McPherson, Jr. (Tommy), Louis Munslow, Richard E. McPherson (Dickie) and Marijo McPherson's; grandson, Scott E. Gibson.
Mr. Jesse McPherson traded share cropping Alabama soil for serving 27 years in the United States military. He enlisted in May 1939. Sergeant McPherson served in the Army until he elected to go into the newly formed Army Air Corp when it was formed and finally moved into the Air force when it was formed in 1948.
He completed his 27 years in the Air Force having returned from England (European Campaign) into the Pacific Campaign serving on Iwo Jima until returned to the continental United States where he served across America in Alaska, Texas, New Mexico, Florida, Indiana, Illinois, and Minnesota. Technical Sergeant McPherson was honorably discharged February 1967. He also retired from the Tuscaloosa Veterans Hospital.
Mr. Jesse T. McPherson, will be interned next to his deceased wife at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery, 12808 Corinth Church Road, Elrod Al. 354587 off Highway 82 west of Tuscaloosa Alabama 12:00 noon on Friday, June 22, 2018.
There will only be a graveside service with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Provider, directing.
