NORTHPORT - John Eddie Carpenter, Jr., age 90, of Northport, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at his home surrounded by his children. A Celebration of Life will be at 2 p.m. Friday, December 1, 2017, at Sunset Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing the service. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Barbara Sloan Carpenter; parents, John Eddie Carpenter, Sr. and Marie Moore Carpenter; infant son; four sisters, Marie Miller, Katherine Ballard, Frances Patton and Ruth Heflin.
He is survived by his daughters, Kimberly Carpenter Houston (Charles) and Tina Carpenter Bundy (Fred), both of Northport; sister, Helen C. Myers of Tampa, Fla.; grandchildren, Hollie Houston Morrison (Brett), Chase Houston (Amy), Ben Bundy and Katie Bundy (Jake Higdon); great-grandchildren, Charlie Morrison and Mallie Morrison; and “Hank” his special little buddy who was always by his side.
Pallbearers will be Charles Houston, Fred Bundy, Chase Houston, Ben Bundy, Brett Morrison, Jake Higdon and Charlie Morrison.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama.
