

Tyler was born August 28, 2007, in Tuscaloosa, AL., to Will and Tiffany Smith.
Tyler attended Tuscaloosa County High School where he took special interest in the TCSS Welding Program. After High School, Tyler began working for the City of Tuscaloosa Grounds Crew as well as continuing his job with the Hamner’s Crawfish crew, and JPS Landscaping Company. Tyler was a hardworking young man who took great pride in each of his jobs. When Tyler wasn't working, you could find him outdoors—he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved being with his friends and family.
Tyler is survived by his loving parents, Will and Tiffany Smith, Tuscaloosa, AL; his girlfriend, Kathryn Katz; his grandparents, Patricia Cunningham and Waylon and Rebecca Dickerson, all of Tuscaloosa; his uncles, Daniel (Savarra) Cunningham, Tuscaloosa, AL; John David (Amy) Smith, Black Hawk, South Dakota; Billy Joe (Lisa) Smith, Tolar, Texas; and Jim (Toni Lea) Smith, Kennedy, AL. He is also survived by a host of cousins and his dog, Hoss.
Tyler was preceded in death by his grandfather, Reuben Cunningham; his grandparents, Leonard “Bud” Smith and Linda Smith; and his great-grandparents, Curtis and Madeline Cunningham.
Services for John Tyler will be held Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Yellow Creek Baptist Church. The family will receive visitors from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. A graveside service will follow at Yellow Creek Baptist Church Cemetery at 12:00 pm. with Bro. Clay Womble presiding.
Pallbearers are Ben Hamner, Adam Hamner, Colton Hamner, Jeremy Dawson, Connor Katz, Gage Pinion, Dylan Snipes, and Josh Meggs.
