Johnny Ralph Knight

Johnny Ralph Knight, age 73, of Calera, died April 25, 2012. Services will be 4 p.m. today at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Stroup and Rev. Robert Barnes officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be two hours prior to services at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gayle; parents, John and Daisy McGough; and brother, Rudolph Knight.

Survivors include his wife, Jane Knight of Calera; daughter, Lisa Comeaux (Josh) of Calera; stepdaughter, Joette Jones (Keith) of Vinemont; son, Daryl Knight (Shelby) of Calera; stepson, Derek Cleghorn (Carol) of Cullman; sisters, Charlotte Johnson (Oliver Jr.) of Nauvoo and Sue Williams of Northport; grandchildren, Mallory, Zachary, and Elijah Knight; Jade and Morgan Peoples; and Hudson Comeaux; step-grandchildren, Lance and Alex Jones, Amy Kanaday (Vance), and Tahauny, Duke, McCoy, and Rayce Cleg-horn; and great-grandchildren, Izzy Lynn and Brian Kanaday.

Mr. Knight was born in Carbon Hill, graduated from Lynn High School, and was in the Army in 1962-63. He was also a foreman at O'Neal Steele in Birmingham, Ala for 29 1/2 years.

Pallbearers will be Daryl Knight, Lance Jones, Keith Jones, Alex Jones, Zachary Knight, and Josh Comeaux.

Honorary pallbearers are Elijah Knight, Duke Cleghorn, Wayne Nunnally, and Kenneth Jacobs.
