Jon “Scott” Kizziah, born on March 26, 1969, age 56, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, September 21, 2025, after a short but courageous journey with cancer.
Scott grew up in Tuscaloosa, where he became known not only for his skilled hands but for his generous heart. A true handyman and craftsman, Scott’s touch can be found across the city and surrounding areas in the homes, churches, and workplaces he helped repair or build. If someone had a need, Scott was there to lend his time, talent, and love.
Scott loved the Lord and often found comfort in His Word. One of his favorite verses was Romans 8:18: “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” His faith carried him, and today it is fulfilled in the presence of Jesus.
Scott was also known for his wonderful sense of humor. He loved to make others laugh, especially his nieces and nephews, who adored their Uncle Scott. He was the kind of uncle who would keep their secrets, make sure they stayed out of trouble, and fill their days with fun and laughter. To his family, Scott was the best son, brother, uncle, and companion they could have ever been blessed with. More than anything, he loved his mama, and that love was clear in everything he did.
He enjoyed spending time with friends, listening to country music, taking drives down country roads, playing bingo, and visiting the casino. Wherever he went, Scott carried joy, kindness, and laughter with him, and he shared it freely.
Scott is survived by his loving mother, Judy Howard (Jerry); his sisters, Wanda Cole (Johnny) and Kristi Schatzline (Scott); his girlfriend, Debbie Abrams; nieces and nephews, Jeremy Cole, Kayla Cole, Michael Cole, Cody Kizziah, Ethan Schatzline (Ale), Noah Schatzline (Emily), Isaiah Schatzline (Kelsie), Destiny Saltykov (David), and Keithan Carroll (Danielle); his cousins, Terri Utley (James Hall) and Renee Robertson (George); his aunt, Ora Fields, along with a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Olen Kizziah; his brother, Danny “Bo” Kizziah; his grandparents, Brace and Gladys Kizziah and Carlos and Bertha Hamner; his aunt, Janice Boler, and his uncle, Dan Kizziah.
Scott will always be remembered for his generosity, his humor, his love for his family, and his faith in God. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy of love and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A celebration of Scott’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Yellow Creek Baptist Church, 15515 Yellow Creek Road, Tuscaloosa, AL 35406. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A special thank you to Hospice of West Alabama, Lewis and Faye Manderson Cancer Center, and all the prayers, love and support of friends, family and beyond.
