

Kenneth M. Smith, age 65, of Tuscaloosa, died June 17, 2012, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Raymond Key and Doug Key officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Smith, and his brothers, Robbin Smith and Paul Smith.
Survivors include his daughter, Amanda Smith; his son, Michael Smith; his sister, Melanie Herndon; and his mother, Autress Smith.
Mr. Smith was an employee of Jim Walter Resources for nearly 30 years. He was a parent advisor for Tuscaloosa County 4-H Club. He was president of the West Alabama Horseman's Association and a charter member of the NorthRiver Riding Club. Everyone who knew him was aware of his love for his game chickens.
Pallbearers will be Kent Liberto, Terry Vaughn, Kenneth Holman, Curtis Turner, Sam Linebarger, Gary Anderson, Ronnie Anderson, and Josh Herndon.
Honorary pallbearers are Mickey Smith, Kenny Waldrop, Jerry Smalley, Mike Sexton, Gary Koon, George and Linda Richmond, Darrell Turner, Tim Turner, Datie Franklin and family, Manley Smith, Steve Barnes and family, Floyd Duncan and family, the Yellow Creek and Piney Grove communities, members of University Church of Christ, and employees of Jim Walter Resources Central Shop.
