Leola “Pinkie” Manuel, 82, of Trussville, AL, passed away suddenly on February 12, 2024. Her loss is completely unexpected and her family and friends are profoundly saddened.
She was born in Basile, Louisiana on May 14, 1941 to Raymond and Joyce Wall. After graduating from Basile High School, she went on to the University of Southern MS where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She subsequently taught school at Myrick Elementary in Myrick, MS. She married her high school sweetheart, Ronald Manuel, who predeceased her. They had two boys, Terrell Brent Manuel (Mary Ann), and Terrance Lee Manuel, who also predeceased her.
She was a member of Deerfoot Baptist Church and a life-long Christian who loved the Lord with all her heart.
She maintained contact with many of her students all these years later and often reminisced about her teaching days. She loved spending time with her group of friends from Northport and Trussville and could be on the phone for hours talking and laughing with any one of them.
She always said she was ready to go home whenever the Good Lord was ready for her, and we know she’s happy to be home at last. She leaves behind her son and daughter-in-law, a host of nieces and a nephew, as well as many, many friends.
Visitation will be at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Funeral Home in Northport on Monday February 19th with Graveside services to follow at noon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, two organizations Pinkie supported.
Sunset Brown-Service Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, is honored to serve the Manuel family during their time of bereavement. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.SunsetBrown-Funeral.com
