Less was many things to many people. Around town, folks often referred to his children as “Less Averette’s kids” because everyone knew him. Chances are, if you lived in the area, he had helped you at one time or another. He was known for his kindness, strong work ethic, and sharp sense of humor.
Less welcomed everyone with a warm smile, an open porch, and a hot pot of coffee from his trusty “Bunn.” Whether early morning or late evening, his door was always open. A dedicated member and first responder with the Friendship Fire Department, Less was often the first to arrive when someone was in need.
He found joy in the outdoors fishing, sitting outside, and working on vehicles were some of his favorite pastimes. He had a gift for mechanical work and a heart for service, and he used both generously throughout his life.
