

NORTHPORT – Linda Hampton Gibbs, age 73, of Northport, died May 3, 2016, at home. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 5, 2016, at Sunset Memorial Park with Pastor Greg Strickland officiating and Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by parents, McCoy Hampton and Birdie Mae
Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Smith Dunn (Mike); sons, Jeffrey Smith (Denise) and Robert “Robbie” Smith (Leslie); brother, Ray Hampton (Theresa); grandchildren, Michael Mayhall, Sarah Smith, Tyler Smith, Krista Smith Noland, Jordan Smith, Chase Smith and Dillen Smith; step-grandkids, Mikey and Aaron, Joe and Sherry; and her special cat Ms. Kitty.
Linda loved Jesus with all of her heart. She flew planes and drove an 18 wheeler.
She was a bonding agent for years. She was an avid horse rider as a young girl. Her dad owned Northport Riding Club. She had a very special love for Indians and buffaloes. She adored her family, grandkids and great-grandkids.
Linda loved a great mystery books and Alabama football. She was a majorette in high school and could twirl two batons on fire at the same time. She could still turn a perfect cart wheel at the age of 72.
Pallbearers will be Dwayne Rickel, Alan Richardson, Josh Smith and Tyler Smith.
Honorary pallbearers are Ali from “Roosters” Texaco by Smith Marina, employees from Mapco on Highway 43 North, Hospice of West Alabama, Dr. Hemstreet and Jeremy.
