

BUHL | L. J. Channell, age 80, of Buhl, died April 3, 2014, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. today, April 5, 2014, at Cornelius Chapel Baptist Cemetery with Rev. Alfred Banks officiating and Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Mable; mother, Snow Channell; father, Charlie Channell; and two sisters, Pauline Brown and Clara Smothers.
Survivors include his daughter, Rita Carol Kreider (Keith); sons, Jerry Ray Channell (Teresa) and Rev. Jimmy Channell (Rebecca); sister, Addie Vaughn; four grandchildren, Jennifer Collins (Joseph), Jeremy Kreider, Casey Kreider and Hunter Channell (Megan); three great-grandchildren, McKenzie Kreider, Will Kreider and Fisher Collins; and his trusty and loyal companion Jack.
L. J. was well known for his love for growing and producing a wide variety of vegetables. Paw Paw was a man that loved the outdoors including trapping, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed being able to pass his skills as an outdoorsman to his grandchildren. They can remember him saying, “Listen to me now, I’m not always going to be around to show you these things.”
With the passing of Paw Paw L. J. has created a big void in our hearts that only the Lord and time will heal.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Kreider, Casey Kreider, Hunter Channell, Joseph Collins, Danny Junkin, Eric Junkin, and Jared Junkin.
Honorary pallbearers are members of Northport Farmers Market, members of Buhl Baptist Church, Joe and Beth Brown, Ronnie and Shirley Duckworth, Otis and Lois Hitt, Jimmy and Kim Gilliam, Tommy and Dawn Booth, friends of Buhl and Elrod communities, Annette Ray, and Ray and Elaine Shealy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Buhl Baptist Church.
